Streaming Quality and Data Usage on iPhone
On iPhone, Ultra 8K streams in HD (720p) by default on cellular to conserve data, and in Full HD or Ultra HD on Wi-Fi. You can change these defaults in Settings > Video Quality. A 1-hour HD stream uses approximately 1.5 GB of data; a Full HD stream uses around 3 GB; and Ultra HD uses 7–15 GB per hour depending on content. For travel or limited data plans, the 'Data Saver' mode caps streams at 480p to minimise usage. AirPlay support lets you send the stream from your iPhone to any Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible Smart TV for a bigger-screen experience.
