Full HD — 1920 × 1080 pixels, commonly called 1080p — was the standard for premium content for over a decade. For screens below 50 inches: Full HD (1080p) is sufficient. The resolution advantage of 4K is hard to perceive at typical viewing distances on smaller screens, and HDR delivers more visual impact per upgrade dollar than resolution alone.
For 55–75 inch screens: 4K Ultra HD is the right choice. The detail improvement over 1080p is clearly visible, especially in close-up shots and wide scenic landscapes. Pair with an HDR-capable display for the full quality benefit.
